Ian Fourie is a Cape Town based artist who sculpts full time. He was born in Cape Town, 1972 and studied graphic design at the Cape Town Technical College from 1991 to 1993 His studio is situated in rural Joostenbergvlakte. He works mainly in clay that is then casted into timeless bronze.

His work is figurative in form. Being eclectic by nature he lets his inspiration comes from far and wide. But primary it is the human form and the plasticity of the clay itself that inspires him to present a dynamic rawness of emotion thru the twist and pull of line and shape into a singular work of art. A final translated dynamic composition that rests solely on the pillar of graceful balance.
